Я всегда доверял исследованиям финансовых аналитиков, которые внимательно следят за рынком для своих клиентов-инвесторов и которым запрещено самостоятельно инвестировать в любую из организаций, которые они анализируют. Они пишут заметки, предоставляют прогнозы и имеют доступ к подробной и конфиденциальной информации. Здесь такой известный и часто противоречивый деятель отрасли, как Майкл Пачтер из Wedbush Securities, был достаточно великодушен, чтобы ответить на все мои вопросы в ходе бесчисленных телефонных звонков, встреч и ужинов. Аналогичным образом я обсуждал основные движущие силы отрасли с Дрю Крамом из Stifel Financial и Юнгом Кимом из Piper Jaffray.

Наконец, концепция этой книги впервые пришла ко мне, когда я столкнулся с отсутствием доступных материалов для своих студентов. Существующие показатели были либо некачественными, либо непомерно дорогими. Из моего опыта работы в этой отрасли я знал, что смогу собрать достаточно данных и идей из тематических исследований и проектов, чтобы создать базу материалов. В этом контексте я должен упомянуть сотни студентов, которые посещали мои занятия на протяжении многих лет, читали и слушали, как я говорил о большей части содержания своей книги. Чаще всего им удавалось удивить меня дополнительными фактами и вопросами.
