На предмет каких-либо записей о смерти мисс Монро были проверены документы отдела уголовного розыска. Такие записи отсутствуют.

Отделение в Западном Лос-Анджелесе также не располагает материалами, относящимися к смерти мисс Монро. Как нам сообщили, детектив, занимавшийся делом мисс Монро, сержант Р. Байрон, в настоящее время находится на пенсии.

Мистер Байрон… подтвердил, что его действительно вызывали в дом мисс Монро. Также на место происшествия прибыли лейтенанты Грегуар и Армстронг. Байрон составил отчет о смерти; если ему не изменяет память, заявил он, она была классифицирована как «несчастный случай». Позднее он составил дополнительный отчет, однако о его дальнейшей судьбе ничего не знает.

Копий ни одного из этих докладов у него не сохранилось.
